‘The problem lies in U.S. hostility, not talks’

TEHRAN – Hossein Amir Abdollahian, a senior foreign policy advisor to the parliament speaker, said Washington’s “bullying” and “hostile” acts against the Islamic Republic is the real problem, not negotiations.
“Talks with America have never been a taboo,” Amir Abdollahian said, referring to Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif’s meetings with his American counterpart during the nuclear negotiations, Mehr reported.
On May 8, U.S. President Donald Trump withdrew the U.S. from the 2015 nuclear pact and ordered sanctions against Iran. On Monday, however, Trump said he is willing to meet with Iran’s leadership, without preconditions, “whenever they want.”
